SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

.

AFTERNOON LAUNCH AND LAUGHS: Join us once a month as we enjoy lunch and each other's company at a local restaurant.

ART MOVIE NIGHT: The Red Bank theatre offers the opportunity to see movies not typically found at Loews.  Join us for a unique experience

BOOK DISCUSSION: If you love to read and enjoy thought- provoking and stimulating conversation, then this is the group for you.  We meet once a month, September through June.  All members decide upon a book list and we discuss one book per month.  This is a fun group and you'll enjoy the lively discussion.

BOWLING: Have fun bowling a few games once a month with friends - note this is NOT a league - no pressure, just have a good time!.

BREAKFAST CLUB: When is the last time you ate breakfast without the interruption of phone calls and making beds?   Join other women once a month for a relaxing breakfast at a local diner.

CANASTA: Come join us and play Canasta every 3rd Wednesday afternoon.  All are welcome - those who know how to play, those who need to be refreshed in the game, and anyone who wants to learn.

CRAFTY LADIES: This is a wonderful activity for beginners, as well as skilled crafters.  We do a different project each month.  Join us if you would like to have fun, make new friends and allow your creativity to shine!

GAMES NIGHT: Enjoy playing games, but don't have anyone to play with?  This is a must for all you board game lovers. Join us once a month for a fun-filled evening, playing a variety of games.

JAVA AND GOSSIP: Does a flavorful steaming cup of coffee sound inviting?  Add to that some good friends, fun chatter and you have Java & Gossip.  Join us for a night out at various cafes around town.

KNITTING CLUB: Always wanted to knit but don't know how?  Never quite got round to that knitting project? Then get together with friends in the evening twice a month and enjoy this activity.  All are welcome, from beginners to advanced.  Crochet can be taught too.

LADIES AT THE MOVIES: Interested members will meet once a month at a theater and attend a movie of your choice.  This gives you the opportunity to see a movie that perhaps your husband has no interest in seeing, plus you would be in the company of friends.

LUNCH BUNCH: Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are more than a mother, a best friend, a wife, a chauffeur and a housekeeper.  So please join us for lunch.  Dress up, indulge yourself in a glass of wine, some adult conversation, and meet women who want to meet you.  We get together in each other's homes once a month with each guest bringing part of the meal.

MAH JONG: Get together with friends every week to play Mah Jong.  (Knowledge of the game is preferred).   We have both day and evening groups.

SATURDAY NIGHT OUT: Why not think about joining other couples in a variety of social activities once a month?  It may be going to a play, comedy club, a cruise around the bay or a variety of other things.  There is no commitment to attend every event.

SCRABBLE: Get together with other members once a month and share a game of fun and competition.  You don't have to be an expert to join in.  Day and evening sessions held.

SCRAPBOOKING: Take advantage of this opportunity to set aside time to catch up on organizing your photos.  If you've been frustrated with how to display your photos and need ideas, this is the activity for you.  This group meets once a month – come as often or as little as you want!

SUPPER CLUB: Enjoy a Saturday evening out with your husband.  Supper Club boasts an informal atmosphere where each guest chooses and brings her own dish, ranging from hors d'oeuvres to dessert.  You will have an opportunity to make new friends as you dine with us once a month.

TOURS & LUNCHEONS: Enjoy a drive out and lunch at a restaurant with friends whilst exploring interesting places.   Past trips include Longwood Gardens, Peddlers Village and Philadelphia Flower Show.

CIVIC AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES

Although Newcomers is primarily a social club, we support local civic and charitable causes.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES

For several years now, Western Monmouth County Newcomers Club has volunteered at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Outreach program on Throckmorton St., Freehold.  This program helps those in need in the community by offering community dinners.  Once again this year, we will be providing the total support for the community dinners on April 9th.  This will include donating all the food as well as serving it.   We are providing an Italian Feast. Please start thinking of what you would like to donate. We will need a variety of pasta's, meatballs, sausage & peppers, chicken cacciatore, etc. If you can't cook or shop, no problem, someone will do it for you. We know that in this economy, times are difficult for many, but hope that everyone  can and will donate to this worthy cause.

CHARITABLE SUPPORT

Each year we raise money at our year-end banquet to support a local charity.    Our club chose The ARC of Monmouth County as the charity we will be donating to this year. This is a nonprofit organization for people with intellectual and developmental disablities and their families.
